you will find that they say they tested 10 Android based phones. They also say that the flashlight provided by Apple with the iPhone is safe.

Considering his app is free, I think not. As Emery said, his company did
a threat assessment on 10 different apps, noting their intrusion. And
one of the apps was cited by the FCC for selling data - according to the
Snopes article you referenced.

Anyway Mr & Mrs Mikkelson (aka Snopes) will poo-poo anything that Fox
News reports on.
