I have a Dometic 2510.2 (at least tha is what the label on the front says although it is probably a 2501.) that worked beautifully last month. Unfortunately, it does not work on the gas setting now. Of course this is just before we are taking it on a trip this weekend. I am reading through the manual that I found online but have not had any luck so far. This is the model with the automatic igniter.

I have plenty of propane. I got the bottle filled recently and it runs the furnace just fine.

When I turn the knob to GAS and turn the thermostat, the orange indicator light does not light up.

Pressing the button makes no noise whatsoever. I had expected to hear it try to ignite the incoming propane.

I removed the cover from the igniter, set the refrigerator on GAS and had hoped to smell gas. I did not smell a thing.

I checked the fuse and it is good.

Does anyone have any thoughts? I have food ready to go in there so we can leave.

Thanks,

Bob

Bob,

If it cools on electric, you have a chance. Go back into the manual and read how to clean the burner. There is a tiny orifice in there that is easy to plug up. It must be easy, spiders do it all the time. Just be careful what you clean it with, you do not want it to be damaged or enlarged.

Oh, Not everybody that reads this site is a vetted reader. Some are spambots, so don't post a good phone number or @ddress. You can spell a couple of numbers and key parts of the @ddress so they don't fit the capture template.

I spoke with Bob and I think he has found the problem. He asked me to post so that he would have my contact info. He will probably post in the future with his findings. It appears to be 12 volt wiring related and not the reefer.

When cleaning the orifice you should use only a plastic monofilament line and air as to not damage the orifice. Never use a metal wire or a sharp pointed item to clean the orifice. Look in you're fishing tackle box for some fish line.

Thanks for taking the time to contact me Rick.

First off, I found a blown fuse in the 12v circuit for the Dometic. I didn't catch it the first time as it blew (or broke) behind the metal end cap, so I didn't find it until I used the ohm meter to diagnose the problem. I replaced the fuse and then found I had 12v at the terminal block on the back of the fridge. I also used my air compressor to clean out the orifice and it looks ok as well.

Unfortunately, while the fridge will work electrically, it still does not fire up under propane. There is a little light that is supposed to light up and flash until the propane is lit. This light never comes on to indicate that gas is flowing. I guess I am going to have to remove the panel and look at the knob to see if it is actually allowing gas to flow.

I am open to any other suggestions as well!

Bob

Bob

Now I am the one leaving in 3 hours so all I can do right now is suggest you look here --- http://www.gmcmi.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Dometic_RM2301-thru-2801.pdf --- at the manual. Hopefully someone else will chime in with suggestions. Good luck

Rick
