Hi all, does anybody know of a good photo pictorial of manifold r&r? I get the most out of seeing as opposed to reading, but anything will help.

It looks like I have a leak around the right rear making it hard to get a good idle. I bet it might explain the extra oil consumption too. Probably should block off the crossover as well. It doesn't look like too bad a job, but it would be nice to know a couple of tips and tricks to avoid having the same problem, or just doing things the hard way.

Thanks all, I wish I was in Chippewa Falls!!

I am not 100 per cent whether debris from the removal of my Intake Manifold
caused my engine failure but most likely since the engine was running well
prior.

So I took the Intake Manifold off and discovered Lava Rock galore - on the
turkey pan, on the underside of the pan, on the underside of the manifold,
on the block beside the valve stems. I was very careful - vacuum, paper
towels on the bottom, drained the oil, then poured oil into the cavity
and drained it - did that 3 times. (I have 2 drains on my oil pan but did
not remove the oil pan and clean it out.
Then I installed the Gaskets from Dick Paterson - with the SS exhaust port
shutoffs. I first thought I was following instructions with the install of
the Black Silicone but misunderstood and found it leaking after replacing
the manifold - so the manifold comes back off and new set of the Gaskets
applied using the proper procedure of applying the silicone. (I have been
told since that the "Right Stuff" is better and even better is the Aviation
Caulking.) Whatever happened to get into the engine bearings I will never
know.
So be careful how you do this.
It cost us an engine.

I will send you pics to your email.

There are others on the photo site as well. Just do a search from the home page.

Brace yourself, the thing weighs a ton. You will probably find out it is cracked between the carb ports. The Rockwell has no crossovers, at all. No lava rocks...
