Hello everyone,

The C/B for my Onan is cracked. Are there direct replacements available? If yes where can they be procured? If no, what have others done to replace a defective breaker?

thanks,
Jon

Although he doesn't show it under his Onan section (oddly) Jim K does sell the circuit breaker on his website.

Thanks Larry! I just checked Applied and found it under "New Item". Nice price too. I did a search on the innerwebs earlier and found an Onan "Genuine" part for $138...Yikes! Applied sells them for $32.

Same type of circuit breaker used in the Lear Jets of that era...bet they were a hundred dollars back then too Surprised , but they were ceramic and I didn't sell many out the parts window.

Hi Jon,

Here's a candidate:

http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/W23-X1A1G-50/PB411-ND/291038 -- $25 in single unit quantities.

Pilotshop.com also has them for $22/ea.

A little searching on Digikey will also find some additional breakers if you want toggles or have a different mounting arrangement on your Onan (I've seen at least two different breakers used on our Onans).

Another source... ebay

<http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-POTTER-BRUMFIELD-W23-X1A1G-50-CIRCUIT-BREAKER-W23X1A1G50-/351170213998>

I keep a search on these CB of different sizes and sometimes can find them shipped to my door for $10 or less.

W23-X1A1G for push/pull button style
W31-X2M1G for toggle switch style

this one would be good for a 4k Onan:

Some Onans have a large rectangular breaker with a toggle handle and two screws in the front.

Others have a "panel mount" resettable pushbutton breaker that goes through a round hole and is secured by a nut.

I have not checked the dimensionals yet but digikey lists a Potter and Brumfield W6/W9 series part that may be a substitute for the rectangular OEM breaker.
