Due to be at at fairgrounds, we recommend that you bring extra electrical

A little more information for attendees...I am assisting with the parking here at Chippewa Falls. After looking close at the situation, I would suggest the following.
If you have 30AMP hookup, bring 30AMP cables and adaptor to adapt over to 50 AMP or 20amp plugin. If you are 50amp, bring 50amp extension cords and 30 amp adaptor. It is also possible you may have to adapt down to 20amp, so plan accordingly. You should all have these things in your coach anyway to adapt to any conditions that you may run into on the road. I would suggest up to 50ft. I personally carry enough to go up to 100ft. You also want to bring water hose and "Y" adaptors. You may have to go up to 50 ft. It is also possible that water hook-up may not be available to you, so either fill up with water on the way or be prepared to fill your tank with water at one of the water sites around the grounds. If you are use to camping with limited facilities, and don't mind the inconvenience, please volunteer to take an electric only site at registration.

I know you didn't need to do this at the last 2 conventions, because we have been at KOA RV parks where there was full services at all camp sites, so we've been pretty spoiled. This time we are at a State Fair grounds. These facilities are laid out to accommodate festivals and fairs with vendors, not necessarily RV's. So most of the parking will be AROUND power centers where 8 coaches or more may all have to run their electric to one central point. There are relatively few sites with dump, so depending on your use of water, you may have to unhook and drive to the dump station 1 or 2 times during your stay. A strange layout here, so we are all going to have to cooperate to make this work. If you don't have this stuff, I would suggest you stop at a Walmart along the way and get what you may need. Be prepared to share and cooperate with the use of power and water.

Larry and Kim,

We left home about two weeks ago in a 23' coach already loaded at least to capacity for this excursion. We are already short a number items from our standard kit.

I don't want to make your job harder, but if you had told me at some time before our departure that there was this issue, I might have tried to pack an extra hose and the 40+# extension cord. Where I might have carried these securely (the cable is over 100$ in Cu alone), I have no clue. That still would have forced us to off load some things that might be essential to a successful excursion.

Real Questions:
Are the available dumps low enough for a standard GMC gravity dump?
Will there be any enforced quiet hours for those of us that need to run our APU (genset) for refrigeration or heat?

We are still looking forward to the event.

Matt - after a good day at the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman.

HI Matt,
I get what you are saying. It is hard to know in advance what your total needs for any given trip might be. Sorry about this SNAFU, but we didn't really realize the extent of the parking problems until we got here and were able to walk the whole park with the site administrator. So we will try our best to make things work within the limitations that we have.

To answer your questions,

Real Questions:
Are the available dumps low enough for a standard GMC gravity dump?

Yes, there is one "designated" dump station that is at ground level. The official camping area for the fair grounds has about 26 to 30 dumps attached to some unmarked sites, and several dump holes (pipes) that are right next to a road that runs around the official camping that can be accessed by just driving up to them, also at ground level. Provided that everyone does not decide to dump at once, dumping should not be a problem.

Will there be any enforced quiet hours for those of us that need to run our APU (genset) for refrigeration or heat?

At this time we hope to be able to provide at least 20 amp service to everyone. Because of the nature of the layout of the fairgrounds, some will have 50amp service, some will have 30 amp service and some may have only 20amp service. The Fair grounds is pretty big, so if we need to park someone without power, (at this time we hope not to do that) we will put them out on the fringes so they can run their genset during designated times. Quiet hours for the fair grounds are 12:30AM TO 6:30AM. While these are official times for the grounds, I would think we should use some courtesy and discretion when running later in the evening. As I said, we hope to have everyone set up with at least 20amp service. So if you have a 12ga ext cord with adaptors to get down to 20AMP, things should be good. We have lots of extension cords with us and may be able to loan them out, but experience has shown that once lent out, they often do not come back. We will do every ting we can to get everyone hooked up to power.
