Our coach had some exterior 'issues'. The stripe had been painted with what looked like exterior house paint and a 4" brush. As I started taking the stripe off last year it became obvious that there was going to have to be something done to the underlying paint. So off and on for the past few weeks, I've been 'De-striping' but the result was definitely not pretty. Turns out there was some body damage from some jerk with a screwdriver the whole length of the stripe. Perhaps that's why it was painted.

Anyway, I decided to do a quick and dirty repair job and see if we could get the paint to last for a few more years while I finish up the rest of the interior and some other projects.

This is NOT how to paint a coach. This is a crappy paint job. BUT, it looks vastly better than it did and should hold up for a few years.

After I got all the stripe, paint, and adhesive off, I set about leveling the paint. Lots of little spots where the IMRON had chipped off. Rather than take the panels down to bear metal, I decided to just level the spots with primer.

Where the depth was deep, I applied the primer with an artist brush.

One the primer drys it can be sanded level.

The front cap was really a mess on both sides.

This is the cheap little Harbor Freight detail gun I used. I really worked well. Not as big a spray as my bug HVLP gun but very little overspray.

Today, the windows were masked off and the stripe area painted, Above the stripe, I blended as well as I could. I'm HOPING the IMRON will buff out to a decent match.

All in all, I'm happy with the result for the effort. This is NOT a tutorial on how to paint your coach. This is buying time until I can do it right

The paper over the windows was moved to the other side and retaped. Tomorrow I'll do the left side, front and rear. Running out of time. Ken and Elaine Henderson are coming up and we're heading to the rally next Sunday. I'll have to turn the wife loose on the interior mid week. Rolling Eyes Laughing
