My trans temp runs about 200-220 on surface roads and light traffic.
I was thinking of a separate trans cooler.
Anyone in particular best suited for our coaches?
Would it mount in front of radiator like normal, or would this block too much air?
Thanks

I like the stacked plate type mounted a few inches in front of the lower section of the radiator piped in after the output of the radiator cooler

The production "cooler" is just a heat exchanger within your engine cooling system. I suspect the temps you are seeing are about what your engine is seeing. They are not bad really. if you add one in front of the radiator, a lot of that heated air will then flow through your radiator and affecting engine cooling. One way or another, you will probably have your temps running in harmony anyway except for the decreased air flow through your AC condenser and engine radiator. You can tell I'm not a big fan of trans coolers.

I forgot to mention that my trans runs hottest in low speed and stop and go traffic due to heat generated by the torque converter (looser at low RPM's)

I remember a while ago on the forum a stacked cooler with a fan that could be mounted away from the radiator.
Anyone using one?
My engine runs at 180-195 while the trans temp is 200-220.

I have one of these:

with the inline theromstat. The fan comes on at 180 and goes off at 165. It runs for a minute or two when I stop.
My tranny temp runs about 180 or less according to my Digipanel meter. Never seen it higher. I've got it mounted in front of the passenger wheel well, blowing down. It's protected from road debris by some heavy close wire mesh.
I couldn't be happier regardless of the never ending arguement of whether or not you can clean an in radiator cooler. My thinking is that any heat load I get out of the radiator and the engine compartment is good.
