Greetings...
My (stock) oil pressure gauge seems stuck - at just about midpoint.
Disconnecting the wire at the oil pressure sender has no effect at all.
Oh - same reading without engine running too...
Leads me to believe that the gauge has gone bad or the needle is stuck on something.
Thoughts from the experts ??

Steve,
If you disconnect the wire at the sender the indicator on the dash should drop to zero. You may have a wiring issue.

Do as suggested by taking the wire off of the oil pressure sender and the guage should show one extreme. ( I believe it is low but I may be wrong)then short it to ground and the guage should show the other extreme. (I believe it is high But ?)
If this Checks out, the cluster and wiring is probably OK. Change out the sender. The picure set I am linking to shows the inside of a sender. Read them all. This is a more common problem than you would guess.

In this case the sender was stuck at a normal pressure reading but would not return to zero. This is the second sender by the way. The first was exactly the same. The Fan blows road spray through the Rad and directly to that sender resulting in moisture getting in that sender and screwing it up.

The fuel senders read 90 ohm full scale. If you are in fact looking to go
to all calibrated gauges, you may want to look carefully at what Mac McNeal
offers at www.custominstrumentpanels.com You cannot buy gauges, make a
bezel to hold them, have backlight on legends, shift indicator and all for
less $ than what he has for you. Added plus is all the speedos he now uses
are all GPS driven! No cable and dead accurate! 2 trip odometers, regular
odometer and a compass. Black or white face gauges and a pile of bezel
colors. Can't do it all for less $-- just a fact.
Of course if you just wanna do it yourself go for it. I can't have that
luxury, it has to also be cost effective when I do it.
