About this time last year I had some work done at Applied GMC. While there I purchased a replacement for the original bathroom fan that was shedding dust and dirt and causing my wife to complain. After sufficient procrastination I've begun installing the new one. Two questions:

The original has a one wire connection. The ground goes to the fan body/frame. The replacement is much lighter and a second wire, presumably ground. Any suggestions as to an appropriate place to connect the ground wire?

The factory install used rivets, probably 3/16 x 1/2 (a guess because I had to drill them out). Any opinions as to rivets or screws (14 x 1/2 or 14 x 3/4)?

An aside. Here in the Pacific Northwest we do not have mud dauber wasps. My coach came from Florida. After 4 years I'm still finding very durable dauber nests. The fan had three.
