Helluva show, Ken.

My son-in-law did a long stint as Nav and FCO (Fire Control Officer) in the Spooky AC-130 gunships out of Hurlburt Field.

Ken,

Waxing nostalgic are we?

I think that video was taken at the Paris Air Show as it looks like Le Bourget. I attended that show twice when I was based in Paris between 1978 - 1981 as a Hamilton Standard rep for France. De Havilland flew a Buffalo on a similar kind of demo and to show off it's STOL (Short Take Off & Landing) capabilities the pilot SLAMMED it into the runway so hard the left wing broke off! The De Hav marketing VP who was on the loudspeakers noted when the pilot got out of the aircraft "and that is a clear demonstration of crash survivability!"

Regards,
Rob M.

I used to live by a small air port in Minnesota here ( Benson in Hugo ) there was a bi plane that would do tricks all the time.. it was awesome.

I also live at the end of a runway, runway 34 at KAWO in Arlington. My favorites are the Yaks, and the B-25 Mitchell that does touch and goes quite often. Craig is a pilot that hangs around Wild Blue Aviation where I am flight training and has a PBY that is awesome to see flying around.

The worst thing about living at the end of this runway is the tow planes for the gliders. Really Loud, and very slow to fly over.

Then there are the "Big Wheels" the Cessnas with tundra tires that land down on the banks of the Stillaguamish river. First time I saw the plane go down years ago, I hopped on my quad and rode down to the river. He was outside of the plane throwing driftwood and large rocks in the water. Just preparing a better runway for him self. He was doing touch and goes on the river yesterday evening as a matter of fact.

Did they actually pay you to fly that?

I would have flown it for free just for the chance to fly one.
