That's only about $25 per pound! Haha

David, I see that your "new" Birchaven is mentioned at Jim's Daily Pose with
some pics! I'll be following this story closely. Congrats!

Just replaced my stock spare with an Alcoa. Decided to weigh them both.
Stock steel 16.5 with Cooper radial, 79 lbs. Alcoa Classic with Michelin
radial, 65 lbs. So if your replace all 7 stock rims with Alcoa rims you'll
save 98 lbs.

Yes I saw it there this morning as well on Jims Blog, it is just a bit unnerving to see it all torn apart, but it will be fantastic when it is all back together. Jim estimates about 3 months from now it will be completed….With Thanksgiving, and Christmas coming up I am thinking more like January. I told him to not rush it, we want to get everything right and I am sure he will. A lot of the mechanical stuff has already been done by PO. He did amongst other things...B & B, new fuel lines, cleaned out gas tanks, new holding tank, Onan repairs and headers. I am having some front end work done, new quadra bag system on rear, R & R front knuckles, replace timing chain, to name a few. Yup its the mechanicals first! I was surprised though how quickly painting was done. I would have thought it was the last thing, but they do it right after they tear everything apart, and the mechanicals. Now I am just having trouble figuring out how I want it painted! :-) I’ve got lots of “nice” pictures, but want something conservative, a bit different, and will stand the test of time. Hummmmm

When it is done I will do a few local shake down trips in the Orlando / Fla area, then a nice long 2 or 3 month trip back to Ca. Anyone interested in a caravan from Fla to Ca this winter? :-)

David,

When you have some ideas of a paint design, you might contact Byron Songer
and commission him to develop some renderings. They really help to visualize
your chosen paint scheme ideas. His work is really nice!
