An interesting way to mount windshield covers is to use suction cups with a male snap affixed to the upside. In use you just push the suction cups in place along the top and bottom of the windshield and snap the cover in place. No snaps to install and the suction cups are easy to store with the cover. We have them for both the front and rear windows and can move them to either the Clasco or the Royale.

That was a great idea, they do work great for awhile but.......

I have used suction cups in the past, they work for a few years and then they dry up and refuse to stick for very long, even after licking them.

My coach already had the buttons, I just made the snaps match the buttons.

I had the canvas guy where I work make mine, then brought the snaps home and fitted them to the cover myself.

Visiting one of the FMCA rallies, there was a vendor who was custom making windshield covers that used permanent magnets to hold the cover to the windshield. He could put a cover on the windshield in about 10 seconds. No fighting snaps. Bad feature, he wanted about $400 to make a cover for the GMC windshield.

Tom or Keith,

What do you stick the magnets to??
Neither the east or west poles of my brass magnet will stick to my coach.

Matt,

They glue magnets inside the windshield, but I doubt they'll work very well
with your brass ones -- something to do with the polarity, I think.

K&J Magnetics, on the web. Huge selection of magnets. Fast and accurate shipping. Epoxy to inside of window.
Magnets will not stick to chrome on coach.

Use good neodymium(?) magnets, glue a set inside the windshield, and sew a matching set into the cover. They are strong and should hold through the glass

G'day,

This is a good example someone on the GMCnet making a comment and then the GMC net making it into a problem then blowing it all out
of proportion.

When the suction cups no longer stick the windshield replace the bloody things!

BTW I have had Double Trouble since 2007 (or was it 2008) I've used the Guske windshield covers regularly and the suction cups work
just fine. It came with the coach when I bought it so God knows how old they are.

Has anyone that has a Guske windshield cover ever had any problems with the suction cups?

All of my Guske covers have used the snaps on both the front and rear. Didn’t know that Ken and Margrette use suction cups. Ken installed both sets I bought.

I like the idea of using magnets for a windshield cover. My biggest concern with using the super strong neodymium magnets though would be potential for windshield breakage if the magnets got close and snapped together.

I have the Guskie covers front and rear - both with snaps. The front uses 5 snaps, 2 on each end and 1 at the center bottom. Works great except the upper end snap is under the awning arm when thwe awning is folded. I like the magnet idea and will adapt at least one at the upper ends.
