To those in projects or thinking of working on projects on their GMC's. I have been away for awhile but I thought this information may have a place for you GMC motorhome owners.

I have found a product that may be of big help to you budding artists as well as those with imperfections on your dashboard.

The product is called PlastiDip. It comes in gallons, pints or as a spray can.

Currenty, the product is being used on cars to make a quick color change on pricy cars, on older vehicles that need to be sealed to prevent rust from spreading, and still be able to use the vehicle and for CAR OR VEHICLE STRIPING.
What this means to some of you GMC folks that cant quite decide what you like for your striping, is that you may create any kind of stripe, size or shape and see it first hand. What this allows is a strip that will stay until you want to remove it. OR, if you created a stripe you do not like, you can remove it, similar to removing vinyl only not nearly as difficult as removing an original vinyl strip, then try another design.
Some of the car owners would make a stripe for a show and later remove it. This product does not damage your paint and comes in a selection of colors.

Pre Dip Spray is used before dipping - https://www.dipyourcar.com/Pre-dip-spray-catagory/

Another use can be for a dashboard vinyl that is not completely destroyed.
Dip sprays on like paint but will cure like a rubbery vinyl. Again, if you want to change colors, you can remove the color you add.
If you have cracks or missing sections, you need to glue them down or make a repair however you would do this. The dip will copy whatever surface you spray it over so you need to try to get it as normal looking as possible. Minor scratches and cuts should fill in and be un-noticeable. IF you have a large hole, you can put tape over it and spray Dip over that.

After the application, See the vid on the DipYourCar(dot)com site on applications, your dash will have a rubbery vinyl finish, water proof and depending on the product you select, will be UV protected.

The Dip applies easier than paint, does require some taping and masking but nothing like you would with paint. The advantage with using dip for your stripes is if you are painting the RV, you don't have to sand the stripe off, you peel it off.

This is a product that may be worth looking into.

DISCLAIMER: I am not associated with the supplier of PlastDip in any way other than having bought their product for my own projects. I receive no compensation for passing along this information to your benefit for your projects, should you find this product beneficial.

In my own project, I used it to cover the peeling clear coat on my car. The finished surface was flat, smooth and durable. The finished look is not shiney like paint but more semi gloss. Application is done in 4 to 6 coats. When applied, the product is fairly stable within an hour and the cure cycle will last from 2 weeks to a month. In other words, don't use a hi pressure hose on it for at least two weeks. I found application easier than paint. The only thing to keep in mind, if you have a taped edge, you need to remove the tape from the sprayed dip while the dip is wet. Once it cures, it will want to remove the dip with the tape.

I bring this information to you because I felt it is of huge possible benefit to you all and it is not expensive. About $8 a spray can.

Good luck and I am happy to entertain any questions you may have.

Larry
