Does anyone have a suggestion for a proven and knowledgable GMC mechanic/shop for engine work in the Seattle area? My 1975 recently completed a 2,500 relocation and runs strong and sure, but is blowing smoke and burning oil. Local shops on the Olympic Peninsula have no interest in working on it.

Art Gamblin in Enumclaw is a multi-brand GM dealer that did carry oldsmobile. 10 years ago they were the best, most conscientious GM dealer in western Washington. Can't vouch for them today, or if they'll take on a GMC, but they're likely still a good shop.

Bills Machine in Lynnwood has been there forever. They are mainly a machine shop so you would need to find someone else to R&R the motor. Evergreen RV on Aurora in Seattle has also been there forever and I think they work on pretty much anything. One of my neighbors runs Denton Restoration and specializes in 60-70's Detroit muscle, so the 455 would be right up his alley.

I have a gantry that I built to R&R my motor if you want to give it a shot. I have the a-frames and an 11 foot I-beam. I have sold the trolley but those are available. With this system I was able to pull the short block by myself and only needed one other pair of hands to drop in the long block.
