That is correct, Rob. The issue is once you turn on the fan and then turn it off the lid will automatically close forcing you to manually open it again. I also found the buttons on the unit marked, "open and close" do not effect the lid, instead they alter the fan speed. The remote control unit buttons work as indicated. Sounds like someone needs to look more closely at the control design. Great unit, but these seem like inappropriate glitches that should not have passed initial launch QC.

Jerry,

If I'm not mistaken on my Maxx Fan all I do is crank it open manually and the fan doesn't start. I'm not in Humble so I can't verify
that for you but give it a go.

Yes, the logic is a little different between the 2. The Fantastic will
come on and go off with lifting the lid. The MAX does not. If you reverse
the Fantastic fan direction it will blow it's fuse, guess that's why they
put the fuse on the control panel. The MAX vent will go directly from in
to out. A circuit will slow the fan to stop, then you will hear a relay
click and the fan will reverse direction. Which one is better is a toss up.

No need for the "rain sensor" which pulls @ 300ma. in standby-- you can
leave the MAX vent open!

Mounting the trim surround, the MAX ventbody is held into the surround, the
Fantastic is one piece, to remove the fan you must remove all the securing
screws-- kinda difficult.

Not better, just different. Again the big deal is the vent can stay open
in the rain. A coach closed up down here grows mold! Move air and it only
smells nasty.

MAX vent is the way to go, not quality-- that's good i's the use.
