i probably spend too much time watching this forum and facebook. but my biggest vice, is craigslist.
here is an interesting post on my local craigslist, someone selling a powerking brand tire for our 16.5 rims for $111 a tire.
might be an option out there for those that are in dire need of tires and can't put together 16" rims, or afford a set of transforces. it looks like he is a mobile tire selling/installing business. but maybe those powerkings can be shipped anywhere. or if someone is desperate, arrange it, and i can haul them to GMCMI.

The Royale across the street from me for sale has 16.5 Wildcats on the front wheels. A low cost noisy Les Schwab tire. The worst thing is it has brand new Toyo HTs on the rear and they are 16in tires on 16.5 rims......

Uh, 16" tires on 16.5" rims? That's a bomb in progress. Half inch sized tires and rims have 15* bead seat angles, while full inch tires and rims have 5* bead seat angles. What this translates to is while attempting to seat the beads of a 16" tire on a 16.5" rim, the temptation is to keep increasing inflation pressure. Trust me on this - you WILL see the face of God if you are close to one of these going off. The only warning you will get is a ripping sound milliseconds before.
I was on the other side of a cinder block wall at a tire store in Palm Springs when an employee tried installing this same combo on a tire machine. I swear I felt it before I heard it. The entire shop was engulfed in a cloud as decades of dust that had settled in the roof rafters had suddenly been shook loose. Dead silence as everyone was looking around in amazement that nobody was killed. Just absolutely NO. I don't care if it looks like it fits.

I ran Power King 16.5's on our 1 ton Chevy van for years. Never had a problem with them. Hard to find In load range E. If you are considering 16.5 other than Transforce be sure to check the load range.
