Hey all new to the forum just aquired a 1977 Kingsley and getting her going. Been sitting for years went through all the brakes lots of stuff replaced so far shes running and driving now on to every other lovely thing. Lots of great info here . Tracked down a charging issue from info aguired here found to be a bad leg on the Isolator going to starting battery. I replaced with one i could get locally but its a 4 post/terminal isolator terminals marked #1,A,E,#2. I hooked up #1&2 to the batteries and obviously A to the Alternator in the instructions says if you have newer Alternator 1985 and up "E" is to be connected to ignition wire to Excite the Alternator. I left "E" alone assuming i have OG Alternator pre 85 . Everthing seems to be working now. My question is is this ok to use thisIsolator very similar to this one . http://www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/Sure-Power/12023A-D.html

Should be fine. Next time check AppliedGMC first. A direct replacement was half the cost.

Super,

Welcome to the group, family, cult, asylum...

Yes, that isolator will do just fine, but if you had taken the time to come by here first, you could have found out the you can "strap around" the isolator temporarily and then waited for the less expensive part to arrive. We have all been eager to get it going, but come here first. You will soon find that you need to reserve your resources so you can enjoy the coach all the more. Fuel is a big cost, so are tires and rallies.

Also: Please load a sigfile.
Go to Control Panel/ Account Settings and scroll down. While there, you can change your Alias too, but that won't change you login ID. We go by real names here and that is for a reason. When we get the opportunity to assist, meet at a rally or on the road, we want to know who we are talking to.

So, build a sigfile with a real name, a more complete description of your 77 Kingsly (like major mods) and a geographic reference. Those that read this list as E-mail (about an half) never saw the Torance CA in the header.

As you have just discovered, you are now a part of a community like very few others. You may never have known of one, but it is how I lived most of my life as a waterman. When someone needs help, we help. You may not like the guy, but that has no bearing on the situation at hand. (Though, I am not sure I have met a GMC owner I didn't like.) For that reason, I like to welcome new owners to the group much any new owner or would be welcomed there. So,

May the Good Lord bless this coach and all those that set forth within her.

Welcome Tony,

Matt

Awesome thanks Matt just re did Account. I am very excited about the Kingsley i have wanted a GMC for a very long time. I had a 87 Bounder for years that we had when the kids were young and got alot of killer trips out of her but it had reached the point of no return. So we missed a summer with no RVing and i knew of a GMC sitting around here in the beach cities here in Los Angeles that had not been used in years so then came the "well lets see if they want to let her go " and sure enough right time right place and she's mine ( took me 3 days to get her home 3 miles LOL !) But i am very happy. My thoughts are we could of just got another box on wheels but somthing like this that is just such a iconic piece of machinery is what i had in mind and the wife loves it just as much as I do. Yes seems as there is a surprise around every corner but baby steps and she is getting on her way. Cant tell you enough how happy i am that there are people like you guys here as into these as I. The long journey starts for me but i believe it is totally worth it. Much respect to all of you guys and the passion i read in these posts. Thanks in advance for all the help to come . THANK YOU !
Tony
