The old buzz box charger initially used in our GMCs used a single voltage to charge batteries. Modern chargers from PD, Iota and others all use a multi-stage charge profile with higher voltage during the early part of the charge cycle (called bulk stage), then lower voltage during the second stage (absorption stage) and then a still lower voltage to keep the batteries charged over time (float stage). The actual voltage used at each stage may be different from devices made by different companies and some chargers allow the user to select from more than one charge profile to suit the needs of different battery technologies. Wet cell and AGM lead acid technology batteries use a similar charge profile while gel cell lead acid batteries require a different charge profile. Lithium and other technology batteries use an entirely different charge profile. Here for example is the charge profile for an Iota DLS-75: 14.8 volts during bulk, 14.2 volts during absorption and 13.6 volts
during float stage. This is appropriate for lead acid wet cell or AGM, but is too high for gel cell technology and would be totally wrong for any lithium technology battery

So, the first part of the answer to your question is you cannot mix battery technology when charging batteries using one charger. If all of the batteries are of the same technology then one charger can charge them all. If they are of different technologies then they must be isolated one from another and charged with different chargers.

The other thing to be careful about is do not try to charge different voltage batteries with the same charger. It is fine to properly wire two six dolt batteries to make a 12 volt battery bank for the house and charge that bank at the same time you charge the 12 volt chassis battery. Hope this helps.

It took a while, but I was able to remove the buzz box and replace it with a PD9260. I had to install a separate fuse box and grounding bar as the
original were integrated in the buzz box. So there was a bit of reengineering and rewiring, but it is now working.

My question has to do with how the PD9260 charges the batteries. The documentation says it can handle multiple batteries and will charge them
approrpriately without overcharging. Since all of our batteries are connected or cross connected, how does the unit charge different battery types
with different charging needs? Or does it?
