So I stopped by Arlington RV today when I got off work and noticed a 26' GMC Motorhome parked there. Turned out to be a 1975 Eleganza II owned by the Donovans from Lake Stevens (according to the information on the plaque on the dashboard).
It was there for an awning install, a used Zip-Dee awning install and the tech had never installed a Zip-Dee on a GMC MH before. Apparently they scoured the internet and couldn't find the instructions so I ran home and got my paper copy instructions, they photo copied them and I talked the tech through the install procedure, including having to move the rear marker light and that the awning installs above the drip rail..... not on the drip rail...... he was reinstalling the drip rail screws as I was leaving.
Hope all goes well with the install, it was an older Zip-Dee in Yellow and White and seemed like it may have a busted spring in one end, not sure though as my Zip-Dee has a single spring.
I left my phone number and offered to drive my coach over there if they needed Chinese blueprints (side by side comparison), I only live 2 minutes away so what the hell, if I get the chance to help a fellow GMCer I am all for it.

Jared,
Good job.
People like you is what adds value to these coaches.
Supplying parts is one thing, but the help of the community is really the
big thing.
I thank you and all the others that are out there helping all of us.

Well Jim I gotta tell you, when I saw what the tech was trying to do I almost jumped in and started doing it myself.
I have bought lots of stuff from Arlington RV for my TT, and 2-3 things for the GMC from there. They seem pretty knowledgeable behind the counter but their tech had me scared. At first he told me it was a 17 foot awning, I told him a 17 foot awning will not fit a 26' GMC MH because of the pads for the arms. The lower pad at the rear has to be behind the propane locker, and the upper pad for the front has to be in front of the window. So I told him I would help him measure it again from head to head, 18' awning.
It was pretty discouraging to hear him talk about the install and the fact that he had already pulled all of the screws out of the drip rail and drilled the awning rail to match the holes.
All said and done the awning may work but the owner of that coach is paying a bunch of money for labor that didn't have to happen.
In the end I am happy I was able to help. I didn't help the owner of the coach directly...... but I believe I helped them indirectly.
If I knew who they were, I would have installed it for them. It would have given me a chance to meet a local owner.

Tom Donovan is the secretary for the cascaders . he
got that awning from me a few years back , glad to see he is finally
putting it on, I wished I would have kept it
had I known how much new ones were, your the man !

Jared,
I have been fighting leaks in Double Trouble for several years. I discovered that the awning rail was installed without any sealant
between it and the roof. It appears when it was installed RTV was applied around the pop rivets and when it rains hard water gets in
between the rail and the roof.
I got some THIN butyl rubber double sided tape and will be removing and reinstalling it when I get back to Humble.
