The CFO wants awnings so therefore we will get awnings. For sure ZipDee and for sure the long one on the right hand side of the coach. She will probably also want the left side large and kitchen. Any reason to get one for the left rear? If you have one there do you use it? Anyone ever put one on the rear window?

I think that Jim Kanomata is a dealer but you'd have to ship them from California.
When I got them I was in Michigan and drove to their factory at Elk Grove Village, IL. and they installed them for me. It is near O'Hare airport.
About a year ago I visited the factory to get some parts for my ZipDee chairs. They have plug ins and one can stay overnight in their lot.
Emery Stora
I know JimK is a dealer and I have a call into him. I'm 80 miles from them and thought I might save the shipping. If they install that would be even better. Too bad my sister moved from Elk Grove Village to WI last year.

I have the same patio awning as Emery, but my awning on the driver's side covers
the driver's side window back to and covering the rear side window. Great buy.

Steve,
Same here, Zip-Dee patio awning on the door side and a Zip-Dee window awning that stretches the full length of the coach on the drivers side as well. Awesome awnings, one wouldn't necessarily think to do the full length on the drivers side but it really does cut down on the radiant heat through the windows and wall.

The other month we had a customer that wanted a LPG water heater on the
passenger side.
Made sense to me, but I happen to be speaking with Migule at MGM GMC and he
advised me against it as we tend to sit around the passener side, and the
heat from the flame would not be too welcome on a warm day.

Just my opinion that is generated from having no awning to going with a patio awning on the passenger side.
more awning coverage is better. anything to keep the heat away on these machines. awnings on all the windows if you can afford to.
One thing I love about my awning, is the ability to keep a side window open in the rain, for airflow. I cannot do that on the drivers side, when rain comes those windows have to stay closed.
Usually when the rain comes, it cools down a bit, I do not need the A/C unit running. but before the awning, with the rain coming, it was baton down the hatch mode, and the dampness/humidity stayed in the coach.
now i can drop a side of the awning down, let the rain roll off, and keep the side windows open all night to let the cool air flow through.

I'm with you Steve. I love the awning on KenH's GMC, but apparently they are
unobtainable now. I spoke with Jim B about a similar armless awning that he
had installed on a GMC, and after he told me the price it immediately
evaporated from my memory.
I WANT an awning on my 23' Birchaven, but I just don't want the arms of a
typical awning on the side of the coach.
I have even been thinking about securing aluminum eyes (4-6) along the top
of the roof above the drip rail, then having a custom light canvas/awning
material awning sewn together with brass snap hooks to attach to the roof.
Then using standard type poles and guy wires to secure the awning to the
ground. This idea doesn't thrill me, and isn't nearly as convenient as
cranking the awning away from the coach, but reflects the extent that I am
willing to go to stay away from arms. I'm wondering if anyone else has done
something similar.

While we're on the topic...
Any commentary and/or experience with "armless" awnings ??
I'm aware of the "group buy" from years ago..
Any newer success or horror stories ??
I'd sure like to put one on my 23 footer but don't like the arms folded
against the side of the coach.
Thanks,

MY 2 cents...
Get a light colored awning. My coach came with a dark blue awning ( A&E ) great for the rain, but in the sun the thing was an oven. All the heat that the awning adsorbed was radiated back out the bottom. You couldn't sit under it on a hot day.
I replaced the fabric with a light silver covered one and it's so much better!
My A&E works, but if I had to buy one I'd pay for the ZIPDee
Now you guys got me wanting an awning on the drivers side!
Another reason to get a full length on the drivers side is sometimes due to camp layout you end up sitting on that side. Sure would be nice to have an awning

Y'All really ought to look into these:
http://www.carefreeofcolorado.com/carefree/products?action=product&productid=38&categoryid=36
They appear to be very similar to the Omnistor I, and a few other lucky
old-timers, have. Since Carefree buys a lot of their equipment (including
my Omnistor) from that Belgian company, I suspect this model is almost the
same as mine.

the max length of that carefree awning is 13 feet. so keep that in mind. I know my patio zip dee is 18 foot long, so would be a short awning.

I didn't notice the length limitation on the CofC. I don't recall the
length of mine, but 5M, or about 16' comes to mind; 13' would be a little
short.
Perhaps if everyone starts inquiring about longer ones, they'll import
those also -- I'm sure Omnistor makes them. The way it worked on our
orders was that CoC imported only the hardware, then fabricated and
installed US fabric. Apparently that eliminated a lot of customs duties --
and gave us access to the much wider range of materials offered over here.

Interesting observation. My recently acquired Eleganza II does have one
of those regular (with arm) awnings, and I was thinking about getting
rid of it, and get some power assisted awning instead.
I guess I'll keep what I have. According to the PO, they never used the
awnings in their 34 years of owning the GMC. And the driver side awning
(which I unwound), does look as if it hasn't seen the sun in that amount
of time.
It *is* a bit cumbersome to roll-out the awning with the arm, but I
guess it does provide stability, which is nice.
