Had to walk around a bit to find service. We made it safe and sound, coach performed great.
Have a little bit of surging pulling the bigger hills. Tina is going to drive home while I play with the fuel controller settings. Looking at the exhaust I would say we are running a bit rich. Talk more when we get home.

With loud applause from Palmyra. Great job getting your girl running. It's good to hear success stories. Due to the nature of the net/forum we usually hear of the "aw crap" stories. (this is not good or bad, just the way it is.)

We made it home as well. What a blast to drive!! I was super nervous on the way up to Baker but coming home was a breeze!!

Seems like the brakes work better everytime I step on them, pretty sure everything is still getting seated.

Had Tina drive down the mountain till we reached the highway but could never really get on a good enough grade to recreate the surging problem. It did it on the way up 1-5 pulling Conway hill and the Casino road hill but at that point I was driving and there wasn't much I could do.

Next 2 things I am going to do. All new shocks, repair the cruise control!! I caught myself speeding more times than I could count. Lined up the speedo with my GPS and we are about 2mph fast, if the speedo says 60, it is actually 62 on GPS.

The coach completely surpassed my expectations!!

Can't wait for our next trip.

Jared,

Are you fully depressing the button in the stalk to engage cruise? It's a mistake is made at first. Engage is a 1/2 to 2/3 press of the button. Full in cancels cruise when it's engaged without tapping the brakes.

If you've already identified a mech fault, please disregard.

I can't get it to do anything. The light won't even come on and I verified the bulb was operational.

Haven't really dove into it yet so would appreciate any and all suggestions.

If that's a Sun tach, two suggestions. First, get some rub off numbers, set the tach for a four cylinder engine, and number it 0 to 4 (thousand) rather than the 0 to 8 that it's marked for. This makes it a lot more useful in a GMC. Second is if you look behind the plastic dash cover there's a hole in the steel backing above and between the speedo and cluster. Drill the same size in the plastic, and you can mount the tach using the hollow bolt on the back. This keeps the wires outa sight. If/when my camera decides to work, I'll get a pic of mine.

Have considered doing that but since its not really in the way I figured I would save that space for possibly a manual water temp gauge.

Good Idea for the Sun Tach as I have used them in the past. The tach in the photo is an Equuos LCD Tach though. Came with the coach and it seems to work fine.

You know what is funny, while I was up at Baker Lake I was approached by a guy that one of my friends from work knew but I had never met before. Come to find out he is a law enforcement equipment supplier and knows my dad who has been a cop for...... since I was 4, so 30 years. He was completely enamored with my coach and he wanted to know the story behind it, so I told him the story of how I got it and after I was done he asked me if I felt guilty about only paying $500 for it...... I laughed out loud and said "No, I bought it from a millionaire". No reason to feel guilty in my opinion.

Fact is I got lucky, right place, right time. I do have $3300 ($3800 if you include the purchase price) into it getting it ready for the road. Our first trip up to Baker was our first success story. Hopefully we will have many more success stories to come.

There is still quite a bit of work to be done and I am sure thousands will be spent this winter on the interior.

Never feel guilty for a score on a deal. It's karma for the times you might have over paid.

I bought a pristine stand up jet ski from a neighbor about 10 years ago for $400. It just sat on a shelf on the wall of his garage at his vacation place like a conversation piece. I used it several summers since and only have a battery and spark plugs invested. Just sold it for $1500 yesterday.

Need a few more of those to offset my coach buy ;/
