The Onan in our coach has been DC3 reliable.
Until the 5th of July...
Mary was doing dinner and wanted to warm something in the microwave.
So, she pushed the button and it started. It ran for about 30 seconds and I could hear it go lean and shut down.
I grabbed the screwdriver and went out and slid it open. Gave the mixture about a quarter of a turn. Hit the button and slid it back in.
About the time I got back in, it went lean and started hunting again.
This game went on for a while but finally we all sat down to dinner.
Yesterday, I fought with this all day. Late in day I realize that the carburetor was leaking - over flowing, but the thing is stalling by going lean.
Did some tests: The needle and seat work. Lots of fuel being delivered. Pull the float out and it is shaky, I have another (Thank you Ken W.). That float is 6.2 grams instead of 6.7.... That worked better.
But we still have the 30~45 second shut down.
Finally instead of trying to be productive while I was waiting for it to stall, I sat right there. This time with the door hung up.
As soon as it started to stumble, I hit the latches and slid it out hoping to catch the gremlin....
She wound right back up and fell into cycle....
Now I was really lost. What changes when I slide it in.
Ventilation??? I went into the bedroom and opened the hatch for the battery. (Chaumière is an original 23.)
Push the button and go back out just in time to hear it stumble and stall - Again....
It is late in the day now and someones brain is about fried.
I'm not just sure what I was thinking, but I cracked the fuel line at the solenoid valve.
NO FUEL - Jumper 11 to 9 and now there is fuel. (Oh Boy is there fuel.)
I was looking at everything and though I found where an electrical connector for the pump might have been loose.
(The fact that the symptoms completely didn't nearly fit didn't bother me just then.)
It fired right up. I pushed it in and it ran another 45 seconds........
The only things moving from out to in are the electrical cables and a fuel line... !!!! Fuel Line!!!!
I pushed the button an she lit and ran as expected, I slid it about halfway in and went inside for a reason.
I got a flashlight and looked at where the fuel line was lying. I picked some of it up and pulled the beast back to the safety latch.

Now, I could see and feel where the fuel link was kinking. I latched it and the cover and let it run for about 10 minutes.
I went in and shut down the roof A/C that I was using as a load and pushed the stop button. In all the pushing and pulling a wire has broken.

Tomorrow, I will figure out how to dress the fuel line so it won't kink and then find the break in the remote.

Right now I am going to take a too long too hot shower and then pour a two finger Manhattan. (Not two adjacent fingers.)

Not 2 adjacent fingers..... does that make it a 3 or 4 finger Manhattan?

Glad you found the issue, I wish my gen set slid out, it would make replacing that spark plug close to the inside of the coach easier.

Intermittent issues are the most frustrating. I "fixed" a problem with the wiring on my GMC fuel injection that was causing a sudden "key-off" stall. I made these fixes over a year and a half. It rarely happened but when it did it was problematic getting it to run for more that 15 seconds... until I performed one of my fixes.

Finally one time it just about would not run and I was starting a two lane road with lots of ups and downs. A tiny lightbulb came on in my brain and I changed the distributor module. It has never coughed since. (and I was so very sure it was a wiring problem)
