If anyone wants a neat accessory for your GMC look into Kerry Pinkerton's KISS Shelf. It is a small shelf with raised edges that will hang over the lip of the opening beneath the below-the-windshield doors.
I used mine this weekend when working on the vacuum pump. It held my wrenches and screws, etc. Great to not have to keep bending down to the ground to pick up a part when working through those openings.

I have made one small addition. We all from time to time get the magnetic business cards from realtors, lawn service companies, etc. that act as refrigerator magnets. I have glued a couple in the corners of the shelf and find that they keep me from knocking screws and small steel parts from the shelf when I am working.

You can reach Kerry Pinkerton at Pinkertonk@MCHSI.com

Thanks for the endorsement Emory. The magnet is a good idea...perhaps V2.0

For those who may not know what Emory is talking about...
