I finally have all of the gauges and others that I intend to put in my new dash. So I want to build a Cherry wood insert for the gauges to set in. Problem is that I have to take the dash apart so that I can use the existing insert as a pattern, then put the dash back together so I can drive it while the rest of the dash is being finished. I'm looking for the piece that resides in/on the dash that the gauges, switches, radio, HVAC controls, cigarette lighter, etc, set into. It is the piece that has vinyl wood grain, with kind of a chrome trim around it. I would just like to borrow it briefly to use as a pattern, then return when done. If necessary, I would buy it. I will pay shipping both ways. Do you have such an item and can you lend it to me? Would save me lots of time and effort. Thanks.

Mine is setting on one of the dinette seats - is it the plastic piece that fits over the metal piece? If so, I can pack it up and send it to you. You don't need to buy it, just send it back. I need to get my rig over for new tires, but I can manage with parts set in the metal backing piece.

Sounds like you have some help.... I would think there would be some dash's out there to borrow.
as a last resort, the coop's dash insert from Jim Bounds is $65. you could always try to resell.

Larry,
Never did find the overlay itself -- I must have given it to someone who
CRS took away..
These two links show what I did find, a tracing on tileboard of the
overlay, complete with dimensions. Why I did it, I don't know. You'll
notice that it's a mirror image end-to-end. Don't really know why I did
that either, unless it enabled me to trace more accurately. Shouldn't
really matter since it can be cut out and flipped:

I measured the overlay to be just under 33" long. That means if you want
it, I can bandsaw it into 3 pieces and send it in a flat medium size USPS
Flat Rate Priority Mail box. You can tape it back together and compensate
easily for the thin cut. I can't imagine ever needing it, so it's yours.
Just let me know & I'll mail it same or next day.
