Do we have info somewhere on cleaning and testing the skinner valves? With specs on coil readings and where to get new parts?

Jim,

At one time Jim Bounds stocked rebuild kits for the Skinner valves -- years
ago. I have no idea whether they're still available.

You really won't need any instructions on disassembly, cleaning, repair
once you've pulled one. The only trick is getting them apart; the kits at
one time included the necessary tool. I made my own before discovering
that fact: With the valve in your hand, it's obvious that a spanner is
needed to unscrew the "plug" that makes up one end of the body. The
provided tool, and the one I made, is a hex nut large enough to fit over
the fitting that protrudes from the plug. Into the face of the hex nut,
drill two holes spaced exactly like the two in the plug, but slightly
smaller than those in the plug. Press short rods into the hex nut holes so
they will bottom in the plug's holes. Mate the tool and the valve, and
unscrew the plug; it should not be real tight since it's an O-ring seal.

When I worked on mine MANY years ago, I didn't need any parts and found
only minor contamination.

As far as coil resistance, I'd just measure them all and worry only about
any that deviate seriously from the average.

HTH,

Ken H.

Gentlemen
Just the info I was needing. I have installed an electrolevel 1 in an early 76 model and am having a little trouble getting it operational. Also wanted a good system so am looking at all items. The system holds air well but has a few gremlins in the electrics.

Thanks so much
