I am installing dual belts to drive both the alternator and the power steering pump. I plan to move the PS pump all the way down to maximize belt wrap. I'm sure others have done this and would like to know what size belts were used. My original 11AV1455 isn't long enough.

Belt size used?

Bill,

I used the same size belt(s) when I installed the dual pulley on Double Trouble's 455; Billy Massey did a good job in the latest
GMCMI Parts List regarding the belts to use.

When you push the PS pump all the way out to get maximum contact angle, the belt can get a little shorter.
Sometimes you need to compromise a little and not have the pump extend all the way.
We have found that as long as the tension of the belts are correct, there is less chance of belt slippage when turning.

Final report. What I failed to mention is that I also installed an alternator adjusting tool, the good one sold by Jim K. With this tool installed it is not possible to collapse the alternator all the way down. For this reason longer belts are needed. I ended up with belts that are 1" longer (58") Goodyear part #15585. and, yes, these are 7/16 (11mm) belts.
