| Cockpit side window removal [message #254635] |

I saw the write up from Arch on redoing the cockpit window seals. I also saw his other writeup when he removed the entire window and frame on both right and left side. The presentation doesn't show me how to remove the entire unit for repair.
Maint manual 23.069 shows the entire assembly but not where all the screws are that hold it on.
So the question is, has anyone removed the right and left side cockpit windows to redo/seal and if so can you advise me of the easiest way to get them out? Interior wall are out and I am now removing fiberglass lower panels under the cockpit windows.

I'd love to hear about this as well.
I thought there may have been a PDF detailing the procedure, but my searches have come up empty...

Thanks Gene. I actually did see that write up but it doesn't address the cockpit windows. We just installed new windows in the Royale from Gene Dotson.
The windows are really nice and easy to install provided the interior is out.

I've also seen that page - but it seems to only discuss the large, main windows.
I skimmed it again - perhaps I need to read it more closely!

The early models only had 4 screws holding it in, the front section along the windshield frame is a c channel and it slips onto the frame then the back gets screwed on. The extrusions screwed together from then end (butt joint). I used new Channel seals from JimK and cleaned the rubber seals with silicone spray. Upon assembly I lightly coated both sides of the rubber channel seal with clear acrylic caulk. New butyl tape between the frame and coach upon assembly. The original butyl gets everywhere and is unforgiving... clean it up often when scraping. Hope this helps.

Correction, mine only had two...bill Bryant has records identifying what vin numbers they started adding extra screws...all the screws are right through the face of the extrusion through the plastic and into a piece of aluminum "backer" just to give the screw some bite and clamp it to the coach, I had my daughters hold the little aluminum strips on the end of the screw from inside, while I tightened from the outside. IIRC the windows were practically glued in place and required persistent force to remove.
