I just had a call from John Beaver, my "Engine Guy", who I helped to rescue
a 20-year-parked GMC last year. He's been working on it quite diligently
ever since and yesterday took it for the first test drive since we brought
it the 160 miles from Montgomery, AL in only 22 hours.

The test drive went well except for one little problem: The glass blew out
of the kitchen window on his '76 Eleganza. :-( Needless to say, it's
history, and he's in the market for a replacement. Anyone having one to
sell or donate, please let me know. He's promised he'll go ahead and
replace the rubber in all the windows, with the stuff he bought from JimB
months ago, before the next test drive.

TIA,

How fast was he going that it blew the windows off?

I replaced the door window with a slider. Miguel has that window. I also bought a slider for the kitchen window, but have not replaced it yet.

John's window was the single pane style. That pane would have been
approximately 22-1/2"x33-1/4". I guess that's the "smaller window", huh?

I TOLD you it was a TEST drive! :-)

Remember, that coach sat idle in the Alabama sun for 20+ years. I'll bet
you couldn't do that without something falling off -- I know I couldn't & I
was born in Troy, AL! :-)

Len,

Is that small kitchen window the same as the door window?

Guess I should pay more attention to such things; I haven't thought about
them since I installed new windows 15 years ago, and gave the originals to
Zeb Frady -- Hmmm...wonder if he's still got that one???

Everyone,

I just got a call from one of our great Dixielanders. He's got a new
replacement for that window awaiting installation. We'll do the
replacement at a rally later this month and I'll bring John the old one.
Cain't beat that with a stick!

Thanks to all.
