Or do you even bother? No one around here sells 1-1/4" ABS fittings, not even unions. It looks like most of the stock p-traps and such adapt up to 1-1/2". The 1-1/4" parts I see online are 4 times as much as the same 1-1/2" part. 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" adapters are readily available. When doing repairs do you just use 1-1/2" and adapters?

Try Lowes - I just got 1 and 1 1/4 pipe and fittings to repair our sprinkler system. Good luck! Razz

There weren't any at Home Depot and I didn't see any listed at Lowes online. Are the fittings you got ABS? As I recall sprinkler systems use PVC.

Use a rubber adapter clamp and adapt it up to 1-1/2". That's what I did when I re-did my kitchen counter/sink. It worked great.

We ran into the same problem. If you can find a large Lowes they may carry it. The two Lowes near us in Lansing MI didn't have any but the big Lowes in Howell MI did. It's hit and miss. And I think we found that not all the fittings are listed on the Lowes website. Another source for ABS is a mobil home repair shop. Not motor home but mobil home, as in trailer park. They are still using ABS in mobil homes, at least for the older ones. It was a PITA searching for this stuff.

Mickey has most of the answer....
ABS is used in mobile homes because it is more rigid than PVC. So, look for places where there are lots of mobile home parks.

I there is a space constraint like the drain under the shower the larger diameter drain pipe may not fit. Such was the case with The Pig. The 1 1/4" stuff from PPL motorhomes was an exact replacement for the shower p trap and arrived in a couple of days. The sinks I converted to 1 1/2" for simplicity.

I found an easy, permanent (very permanent) fix. The fitting where the p-trap connects to elbow that is glued to the 1-1/4" pipe was leaking. No amount of cleaning and tightening worked. I was about ready to cut the pipe and try more drastic measures when it occurred to me "If the next step is cutting off the fitting, what do I have to lose by cementing the fitting?" So I coated both surfaces of the fitting and the collar and threads with ABS cement and screwed it together hand tight. There was something satisfying about watching the ABS cement coming out the same place water used to come out. Let it sit for a few hours, turned on the water, no leaks.

Sure I may have to replace it some day, but as I said, the next step was cutting it off, and I may have staved that off several years.

We supply the RV type with tight turns.
Many people have ordered them and saved time looking around.
