Hi all,
At the Coos Bay rally there was a vender touting a spray for electrical connections etc that prevented corrosion. Samples were given out and I used mine to some advantage. Now I can't find the little bottle or remember the name of the stuff, Anybody remember?

It is probably a dielectric fluid in an aerosol can, your local parts store will have something similar. WD-40 works on electrical connections to prevent corrosion as well.

Duane Simmons swore by CRC. it is an aerosol is a small blue can. Goes on like contact cleaner but when the carrying agent evaporates leaves a transparent dielectric film.

I tried to find the CRC 2-26 in Canada and had no luck. It sounds like it is either a labelling issue or a ingredient issue. Either way - I'll have to pick some up next time I'm down south! (I'll pay tax on it and declare it at the border)
I have some other contact cleaner that I use for audio equipment (DeOxit and Faderlube) - but it sounds like CRC 2-26 is the stuff to get. I may look into the Corrosion Block if it's easy to find up here...

I seem to remember a similar product at Radio Shack years ago. Maybe the
same as 2-26 and rebadged as RS?
At any rate, looking at the old label on my can of CRC 2-26, they are out of

CRC changed formula some years back, courtesy of OSHA. Since that time - and to a degree before - I've used Caig DeoxIT D5 and Power Boost D5 also made by Caig. The old CRC and DeoxIT are the only elixirs I've found which will keep an MCI JH series tape machine going properly. These machines use an analog closed loop tensioning system which flows 50 uA at normal tension. That's not a misprint, microamps. >Any< dirt or crud on the Molex connectors will screw it up.
