I spent the previous day checking out the fuel supply lines. I started by blowing some air into the fuel line that I had removed at the engine fuel pump. First problem I found was a crack in the rubber hose where it attached to the metal fuel line..repaired that and then started back..couldn't hear any other leaks so I tried pumping gas into the line at the engine back towards the tanks...no leaks...I then reversed the pump and tried pumping fuel, I did get some dirty gunky fuel but not a steady stream. And when I also tried switching tanks, no change. So I moved back to the tank selector valve and found that 2 wires were cut or chewed off where they attached to the connector at the selector valve. I repaired those and then when I switched tanks at the dash the gauge went from reading full to maybe what was actually in the tanks. A quarter tank or less in each. I had added about 6 gallons of fuel with seafoam in it whenever I originally tried to get the engine to start. I ended up having to hook up a 5 gallon tank to the engine fuel pump and drive it home that way...anyways I don't think the 12 volt fuel pump is strong enough to pull fuel from the tanks up through the lines. So I will first be draining both tanks and then after flushing will get some fresh gas in the main tank and see what happens. I also don't get fuel to the generator so hopefully that will correct itself once I get over a half tank of gas in the main tank and that it's not because there is a break in that fuel line...So once I get fuel to the carb she will run again...lol..next project will be bleeding and inspecting the brakes..geez...Glenn

Glenn, if the selector solenoid is not seating properly, it could suck air if one tank is low enough...if parked on a incline, nose up, use the main tank, nose down-aux. try bypassing the selector if you know you have fuel in both tanks. I just dropped my tanks this spring, installed two pumps, and eliminated the selector.

Hi all, due to the condition of what fuel I did pull through the line I am draining the tanks. Don't want that crud in my fuel lines. I will also probably end up dropping the tanks in order to replace the fuel lines but for now am replacing the sections that were cracked or damaged. The fuel selector is working now and that is an improvement. I do have a higher pressure fuel pump I will connect to the lines once I have the tanks cleaned out and see if that will pull fuel to the front engine area prior to reconnecting to the engine fuel pump. I'm going to install a fuel filter in line to also make sure nothing makes it to the carburetor. Thanks,for all the input and I will update with progress made...Glenn

Sir: now that the fuel selector is working maybe blow shop air back thru both tanks (with fuel cap removed) to clear the pickup socks.

Glen, you only want to have 5-7 lbs of pressure going to your carb.

Yeah won't connect the pump from the tanks to the carb, just to see if it will pull fuel through the lines once I get the tanks drained and fresh fuel in the tanks. If it pulls fuel then I will disconnect and hook up my fuel line to my engine fuel pump and cross my fingers and hope it runs and runs....lol...Glenn
