The aft most light in the head will turn the fresh water pump on???
Is this normal..... as the owners manual only mentions the switch by the entry door.

Lot of people do this. If the pump is off and you go to the can at night it sucks to come back out and turn the pump on. controlling it from that light is a simple way to have the pump switch in the bathroom as well as by the door.

So this is a possible modification......
Makes sense, although when we camp in our TT we never shut the pump off. Why would you?
I think I will take a peek at the wiring, I would hate to find twisted wire splices covered in electrical tape.

Yeah but camping in the travel trailer with a 7 year old girl who can't reach the fresh water pump switch...... I just leave it on cause during some point in the night she always go's pee.

WD0AFQ wrote on Sun, 29 June 2014 19:22I never turn our pump off either. Came home Thursday and it is on sitting in the driveway. Will turn if off when I think about it.
Dan
I don't even think about it.
I certainly don't run out to the yard every night and turn off the water to my house.
My house is supplied with an unlimited amount of water. In the grand scheme of things, 30 gallons is not so bad.

Then again, your house isn't plumbed with 40 year old PMEX that has probably frozen several dozen times in the last 12 years. Having 30 gallons of water on that lovely shag carpet is not fun. I don't know about other systems, but in my coach if the pump has been run recently there is enough pressure in the system to flush the toiled a couple times.
Call me paranoid, but I turn everything off when I'm not using it.

Tina wishes we still had the original shag carpet, she wants to restore it to it to factory. But then again she misses her first car, which was a used Chevette with rotted out floorboards. You can see what is left of the shag carpet when you open the cabinet under the fridge. Beautiful green and long.
Most of my upholstery and carpet was replaced by the PO. No shag carpet.
I would certainly like to hear from an owner that has had a water line failure in the middle of the night.

We supply the Winkler water switch system.
It is alike the system as on the luxury coaches.
One can turn on or off at any switch location.
Good example is when you forget to turn the pump off at night and the pump cycles on in middle of the night, or run into the bath room and realize that the pump is off.

I saw several campers with water running out the door when I was a voulunteer at one of our State Parks here in Kansas. Of course I got out of my work truck and shut the water supply off. It's never a good idea to leave the water turned on to the camper or to leave a water pump on when not using it. Just takes a moment for it to empty the tank and ruin your camper and your weekend. Like the old saying "better to be safe than sorry". I know 2 of the campers had a water leak at the city water connection, seems to be a weak link, even in our old GMCs. There was even a brand new (just purchased and pulled to the lake) camper that the owners were filling the fresh water tank (why when there was a water connection) and the water tank proceeded to fall out of the bottom of the camper taking the plumbing and some wiring with it as well as the underpinning..talk about some unhappy campers. The pressure regulators that you buy to screw onto your water hose have also been known to fail and let too much pressure go through the hose into a camper causing the plumbing to bust due to too much pressure. You also always put the pressure regulator at the faucet to not only protect your hose (have seen those burst also, usually due to sitting in the sun baking)but also your camper. Best to build your own pressure regulator with a gauge on it so you can be sure of the water pressure. There's also problems with toilets not shutting off and the water filling up the waste tank. So, be safe and only turn the water on when needed.
My 74 camper has the water pump switch on the driver side above the kitchen counter, switches by the entry door power the outside light and the light above the kitchen sink. My bath light does not control the pump either. As stated, especially at night you don't want to hear the pump running as it is under the rear bed area.

It is always best to turn of the pump when travelling a it is hard to tell when the leake developes.
It is always wise to turn it off at night as it cn cycle when your sleep.
If all the Fawcett is shut off, there is less chance of that, but you never know.
It is wise to inspect the lines for leaks.
