Wow, that really looks sharp. I'm diggin' the paint scheme.
76 Birchaven - "Wicked Mistress" - New engine, trans, alum radiator, brakes, Sully airbags, fuel lines, seats, adult beverage center... those Coachmen guys were really thinking about us second hand owners by including that beverage center...

Thanks for that, the paint is probably a 6-7 out of 10. There are some smaller blisters on the end caps, and the clear coat has started to peel in 2-3 places.
She is a 15-20 footer, but she does still shine pretty good considering she sat for 12 years and all I did was pressure wash her.

I appreciate the link, but for that guy to say that there will be steel wool particles left over...... that's a frivolous comment.
I could see that happening on a piece of aluminum that could be porous such as a CAST aluminum wheel (that was a link to a motorcycle forum), but certainly not on a "turned" aluminum wheel.
And he knows a little bit about noble metals, as do I since I work in the marine industry.
If electrolosis was really that big of a deal...... we would not use STEEL lug nuts on ALUMINUM wheels.
I have used Steel Wool to clean aluminum, copper, brass, stainless, and chrome. Have never had an issue.

Did anyone notice my windows are not "Purple" anymore???
Got all of the old tint peeled off and the corresponding adhesive scraped off...... took quite awhile but I had the wife do it.
She likes the tedious detail jobs.

Green pads wrapped around a bar of lava soap will put a shine to aluminum, if the steel wool gives you pause. Just add water and elbow grease.

As much sense as that dissertation makes I fail to see the difference between ferrous rotor filings from brake wear which end up all over the wheels and a one time use of steel wool pad to clean the wheel. I know someone here will enlighten me.

That would certainly work as well I imagine, the key to either method is the water.
The water provides the lubrication, do not try the steel wool dry, or any other abrasive, when it starts to drag, dunk it in the bucket again.
Keep it wet!!!

Great job Jared. The wheels look especially good. I'm kind of surprised, actually, after reading things about using steel wool on aluminum. I also had a bad experience with Castrol Super Clean (although I use it all the time). I once used it, full strength, on the engine in my Buick Century. It took all the shine off the polished aluminum valve covers. I suppose I could have gotten it back with a little polish and some elbow grease, but it wasn't that important to me. I have never used it on aluminum since. I use Simple Green instead, usually with a scotch brite blue sponge. It doesn't get the wheels THAT clean though.

I cleaned the backside of my hotshots with #0000 steel wool dry. It swept the stubborn brake and road debris right off. Obviously any wet deposits like oil and brake fluid need to be gone first.

Alkaline cleaners are risky with some polished bare aluminum. If it's aluminum and bare we use nothing at the body shop but soap and water to clean due to the risk of staining.

Windows look a lot better...did you use the limo tint instead? I think I'm going to go for the limo tint when I get ready, like the look and should help with cooling. Is your AC as noisy as mine is, be good sleeping because between the AC, fridge and power converter you couldn't hear much else...lol. Glenn

Jared I noticed the oil cooler lines also, I wouldn't drive around the
block in the summer time with them, had one go out on the way to get a
burger in ballard, dumped the whole 5 quarts at ballard brothers in about a
minute at least I didn't go hungry while I replaced them in his parking lot
after I cleaned up
