How many of my fellow GMC owners and Hams intend to deploy for field day in their GMC?
I will be in the wilds of Lower Alabama, supporting the South Baldwin and Lillian amateur Radio Clubs. I will probably operate as the GOTA station. We will be classed as "3A."
Look for Call Sign of "AF4I."

Tom,

On the bucket list. Far from deploying. Just looking at the forlorn Cushcraft A3 against the fence this morning. Many many projects before radio. Can't even think of looking for you. But definitely on the bucket list.

Best,

Carey, I cannot think of anything much better than deploying in the GMC for a real disaster. We do have hurricanes here. Lucky that there has not been anything of note for the past 8 years.
Deployable with genset, water, sleeping quarters, etc. makes for a nice support system.

I'll be in my GMC which will be a CW station for The Sonoma County Radio Amateurs field Day.
Club call is K6SON, 2A, San Francisco. We're located in Sebastopol, CA about 60 miles north of SF.

I >might< wander out and watch the Larryburg guys if they're anyplace closet to home. I picked up a license in Tulsa out of embarrassment - all the other station Engineers were licensed. Never used it and it lapsed. I wonder if one of my little (10KW) Quincy Tinworks transistor radios wouldn't tune into 2 meters with some tweaking. Three Onans in sync, one per phase.... I wonder is there a yagi you could feed 10KW safely..... Remote control electrocution via GMC!
