Hi looking for campsite recommendations near the Henry Ford museum Please remember I have no towd so public transit or a shuttle will be helpful unless parking the GMC there is not a problem

Several years ago visited The Henry Ford and used a parking lot in front of the police station & train station. Across the street was the YM or was it a YW, anyway they had showers, tv, etc. All free, only a block or so from the museum/Greenfield Village and parked the GMC there no problem.

John,
There are three campgrounds in easy striking range. Public transit in this area is a non-starter. None run a shuttle service.
Detroit Greenfield (Ex KOA) is nice.
Camp Dearborn (is not in Dearborn) is mostly nice, but farther out.
The Wayne County Fairground (WE only w/dump) is what it sounds like.
Also, before you make you plan solid, get on their website and see if you are planning to get there during an major event. These things are good, but may make managing parking a lot tougher. During the school year (now ended) parking at HFGV is not difficult. Right now, it is highly variable. Weekdays are better.
Please tell me when you hope to be in the Detroit area. We may be able to accommodate you here. (Water and Electric - Dump Maybe) Please reply to <matt 7323 tze at gmail dot com> and fill me in on the plan.
