Hi guys, well I checked out my tires today and this is what I found...they are all old...the PO replaced the front 2 tires in 1988...so all 7 tires (spare) are way old...couldn't even find a date code of any kind. They are all Michelin XPS Rib Radial X tires, Load range E and were steel belts in sidewalls as well as tread. So will definitely have to get rid of those. Also has the Firestone Accu Ride Wheels..which are the originals on this vehicle. So looks like I'm going to be looking for a set of wheels and tires...in the 16 inch size...no sense in staying with 16.5. Anybody got a hookup...lol Glenn

JmK for American Eagles. Other GMC suppliers also. Look on Craig's List for 16" steel wheels. Southwest Wheels for Alcoa's. Perhaps someone has a removed set.
Tires in 16" you have many choices of brand. Suggest you stick with non-steel sidewalls. Just get Load Range E.
I am using 16" from Wal-Mart, not because of the brand, but the 3500 or so Wal-Marts replacement policies. I had a national local dealer refuse to replace a tire after the sidewall ripped out. I have never knowingly purchased anything from that brand in 30 years.

Glenn,

The date code is there, but as they are pre-2000 tires, it will be a three number instead of the newer four number code.

Tom,

Walmart's website is useless about tires without knowing an application.
What tires did you get from them?

With the lack of local dealers for other, I may be headed back for Transforce.

Thanks for the info guys. The tires will be down the road a way probably after I get her road ready..the CFO probably wouldn't go with a gas tank sitting in the passenger side and no brakes....lol..
