I performed a pressure check on my fuel tank and found the seal on the pickup tube leaking.

Removing the pickup I noticed the metal plate on the sender had separated from the plastic body.

This sender has never been used. When it gets hot the plate separates. When it cools off the plate clams back up to the body. However, the pivot for the float arm came out it's socket and made the sender inoperable. I removed my other "new" sender and found the same problem. In a previous thread someone mentioned that "new" senders weren't very reliable. Maybe this is why. My remedy was to bolt the two pieces together.

What pressure did you have on the tank when the pickup/sender seal started leaking? I spent a lot of time fussing with mine. I found that at rated pressure specified in the manual (CRS, can't recall the number) I had no leaks. At double that pressure, somewhere around 4 or 5 psi, there was nothing I could do to stop the leaks. Just my experience.

Not sure what the pressure was since I used a cheap garden sprayer to pressurize the tank. The leaking air was loud enough to hear. I cleaned the mating surfaces and carefully reseated the seal. The second time the tank was obviously bulging in the middle and did not leak for the entire 30 minutes it was pressurized.

Be super careful anytime you try to pressurize a fuel tank.

The Fuel tanks we use are pressurized to 3 psi and that is it.

Doesn't take a whole lot more to blow out a tank, which I have seen happen in my industry.

I used a shop vacuum when I pressurized mine.
