Hello everyone!

Matt Collie noted on Facebook that I've been awful quiet of late. I
figured I should poke my head in here and let y'all know that all is
well with me and Dana. :)

The new job has me SUPER busy. I left the United States Department of
Veterans Affairs in part because of the same factors that lead to the
VA hospital scandal, in part because I wasn't getting the professional
respect that I think I deserve, and because my student loans cost
$1600 a month and they weren't helping. So I left on a Friday, and on
Monday morning I walked in at Morgan and Morgan (for the people!). So
if you or anybody you know is a Veteran having trouble with the VA as
far as getting benefits is concerned, get in touch with me! I needs
the money! I get a bonus for each case I bring in the door. :)

I'll be moving to Jacksonville FL as soon as we can get our house
sold. Getting the house remodelled (new floors, paint inside and out,
window treatments, OMG clearing out the garage!!11!1oneeleventy) has
been a time consuming and EXPENSIVE project. Like, fifteen grand. Had
to cash in my retirement to get it done, but it HAD to get done if the
house is to sell. All other projects have pretty much taken a back
seat to getting caught up at the new job, and getting the house fixed
up and sold. Today is the day we finally put it on the market, going
to meet with the realtor at lunch.

Today is Steering Wheel Week apparently. I ordered a replacement for
my rotten steering wheel on my 1968 Pontiac Catalina, a beautiful
walnut 15 incher with the arrowhead emblem in the middle. And now I
have a replacement steering wheel for the Barn Queen coming! Whoever
backed out and decided they didn't want it (or decided to let me have
it instead) I really really appreciate it! The Barn Queen's steering
wheel rotted away to just a wire and a pile of plastic debris on the
funkadelic green shag carpeting.

Helped a homeless Veteran get off the street and into a subsidized
apartment. I now own a 1987 Lincoln Towncar Hearse. Door glass busted
out. Wiring savaged by squirrels and/or crackheads. To call the
interior “trashed” would be an insult to garbage everywhere. Used as
living quarters and storage for several years of life on the streets.
Smell is indescribable. (Scrap value is $400, currently hiding it from
my wife at a rental property I own, under a tarp).

I am in SO much trouble. :)

Actually, I probably should scrap it. I'm trying to downsize and get
moved to Jacksonville, and lord konws I don't need any more projects.
The hearse needs more repairs and decontamination than it's worth; the
same make and model, two years newer and never used as a homeless
shelter, can be had for about three grand.

Currently, the GMC project is obviously on hold whilst I deal with
house remodel and getting it sold. However, I know what needs to
happen next.
Order new drinking water tank, JimK has it in stock. Install.
Put in the new blanket locker my father in law built to replace the
rotten one in the Palm Beach.
Swap the nice aluminum wheels off the Royale and onto the Palm Beach.
Get gas tanks put back onto the Palm Beach.
Re-install Onan into the Palm Beach.
Put up some kind of curtains/blinds.
Service the AC units.
Stop and re-assess at this point what to do next.

Also, somewhere in here, need to see about getting the 78 Royale into
the Red Rock Desert RV Rental program.

So, that's what's up with me. :) Sorry I've been so quiet lately.
Busby busy busy.

Robin,

Let's see, it's 95F and humid here in Louisville, KY where I'm at. Yup, that means this is the "David Gourdine Busy Season" (and I guess technically Black Rock Desert RV Rental busy season), if he ever has a "not busy season". I should know about at least a part of it, since I'm one of his customers staying out at Burning Man this year in one of the units so his workload is partially my fault. Yay for an excuse to stay in a GMCMH when I haven't been able to find one to buy yet! You may want to email him direct just in case he's not able to stay current on the list emails due to volume while he's moving coaches around. If you need his number or direct email, let me know. He's never failed to call or email me back, even when I was just asking for his opinion on if a nearby unit might be a good fit for him even if it's hundreds of miles away from him.

Robin,

Thanks for the offer. I am not having problems with the VA for the same reason I always went to a civilian dentist when possible when I was in the Army just before I was scheduled for the Army dentist. I always wanted my teeth not to give any excuse for being worked on. Just being too careful, I guess. Some of my buddies weren't so lucky. If prostate problems come up, I might try for a service related disability because of Agent Orange exposure. So far, so good.

Great to hear from you. I don't know what it is about me that wants to make such a hearse look like new. A hearse is a hearse, of curse, of curse......It would still be a hearse. Maybe it would look good as a stretch El Camino type pickup with the rollers on the floor! No, no, no. Time for the crusher, I think.

Always entertaining. No one could ever predict where one of your posts is going to go.

Best,

Carey from Ennis, Texas 78 Royale, 500 Cadillac, Rance Baxter EFI.

I have heard of lawyers chasing ambulances before but chasing and catching a hearse is a new one. You said this new job was better than working for the VA?

I'm just having a little fun at your expense. Thanks for checking in. I was wondering how you are doing.

Well Hello. Good to see that you have not left the land of the living, but a hearse? Dana will have your guts for garters!
Be well and take good care, just one day at a time.
Shocked Don't meddle in the affairs of dragons, you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup. Laughing
