Hi y'all,

I have looked at several of these coaches that have a two-90 degree elbow fitting combo with a rotating joint between the elbows. This allows the sewage line to be lowered when dumping. Is this something that was standard on certain models? Where can I find a fitting like this? The EZE KLEEN is close, but I want to glue these fittings permanently inline and the EZE KLEEN system attaches with a bayonet end. Any advice or product that will work to give me fall on the drain line. I am redoing a 73 model here. With new GMC-1 style tank.

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris, I haven't gotten that far on my coach (74 GMC) yet but would entertain ideas on a better configuration and not having to go under the coach to attach the drain hose...I think I have seen the system you are referring to on a fifth wheel trailer. It rotated out from storage against the trailer left side for dumping. It had accordian type fittings. Should be available at RV Parts stores or maybe ebay.I think it needs to be stored so that it wouldn't drag the ground on these GMCs so don't know the feasability. I thought the original connection on ours slid out of the sewer pipe to connect the extra hose to? Haven't looked at mine as yet, except to note there is no cap on it. The T handle is hidden behind drivers side rear wheel also. What have others done?

This what you are talking about Chris?

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/member-galleries/p43577-waste-outlet.html

It was on my 78 Palm Beach when I got it, along with the drop tray to the left in the photo to hold the extension of stinky slinky if a longer hose was needed. Scroll through the next couple pictures for other views.

I ended up installing the macerator in one of those photos. This stuff all came with the coach, and the PO had a coupling on the macerator to hook to the three inch hose. I permanently installed it on a Y coming out of the coach - the macerator on one side, and a standard dump valve on the other. If I have to dump gravity flow, I could, but I use the macerator instead. It took both of these pipe tray things off.

Mine was connected with a couple hose clamps and rubber sleeve.

It is similar. Several of these coaches have two abs elbows together, nicely installed (I think from the factory).
I will figure out how to post pics tonight. I have pics of 4 coaches that have the exact same system.

Chris,

I believe that the swivel was standard on most GMC models. I have never seen it anywhere else. It is a threaded section with an O-ring.
Stay tuned, there have been many effective modifications to the dump system.

I think what you're looking to do is create what plumbers call a swing joint. It would consist of two threaded 90s with a close nipple in between. I don't think they are usually meant to actually "swing" but to provide some flexibility to the pipe joint. Maybe you could accomplish the same thing by using thread sealer (pipe dope) and leaving the connections just loose enough that you can move the pipe up and down.

Put in a macerator and you will smile every time you dump. It's the only way to go!
