Quick instruction on how it is supposed to work? Having issues with hot water not coming out.

Works when i have pump on. But would assume that is pulling water out of fresh tank.

Stock palm beach.

Hi, check to make sure there isn't a shutoff valve at the water heater that is used for winterizing..that causes the water to either bypass the heater or not enter at all. You didn't say if you are getting cold water when connected to city water, but I would guess you are.

Yes. Cold water only when connected to city. Have not had mich time to see if it is user error by wife. Just tryin to get idea on system. I do have bypass kit, and valves should be fine. Everything works normal with pump. This is my first time dealing with city connection.

Wife claims the bath sink hot and cold. is switched on city. I have not had time to test.

Yep the city water side should be separate from the tank side and should switch when connected there should be a backflow preventer to keep it from getting past your pump into your water storage tank, as a new owner I haven't gotten to my plumbing yet to check it out but that is how other campers work. If you're getting hot water when using the water storage tank and pump but not when connected to city water then it isn't getting to your water heater so I would check for a valve to be shutoff on the city water side.

Jon,

Somewhere in the morass of documentation are plumbing diagrams for at least all the GMC fit coaches. Of all I have seen, all have a check valve after the potable pump and a T that goes off the the city water feed check valve (that is in the city feed). Ego, it is REAL hard for something to be different on the pump verses city water.

There is, however, a very good chance that one of the hot water taps is plugged with scale that came out of the hot water tank.

Jon,

There shouldn't be any difference in the function of the water system between running the pump or hooking up to city water. All both do is pressurize the system.

Yeah - when it left the factory. Who knows what a PO may have done as an "improvement" or as a cheat on a proper repair.

He is getting pressure, I can't imagine what could be done to the freshwater system that would allow only the cold side to work when the city water fitting is used. If water is coming out of the hot side of the faucet, then it should come out hot.

If there is NO WATER AT ALL coming out of the hot side, cold or otherwise, that would be weird.

You can also see and download electrical and plumbing diagrams for the Coachmen Royale coach at

http://www.gmcmi.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/77-Coachmen-26RB-Electrical-Plumbing-Drawings-copy.pdf

Jon Glatz had sent it to me in 2002 and I scanned it for my files. I also sent the pdf file to Billy Massey back then so it is also available on the bdub site.

Ok, The po. Must have done something odd. But now that i know i can live with it. Cant blame my wife for user error.

Not sure what is changed, But on city water connection my cold and hot water is swapped. Even have hot water into the toilet flushing. And that is on both kitchen and bath faucets.

Will live with that probably forever because this is the first time using the city connection in 4 years. And even while here all week, i have only turned that water on for one shower and now to test. Found nice bath house on other end of campground.

City water must be connected to hot water outlet side instead of hot water inlet side. I don't know how hard it is to get to the connections, but the fix itself would be simple.
