I think I am missing something since, it does not look similar to anything I have seen online with an Olds 455.
I also cannot run a double pulley because of this.
Does anyone have an extra set of alternator brackets?
I would like to move it to the driver side if it not going to be a huge issue.
The parts book shows this pass side mounting for an engine w/o A/C. Section 7.029

Michael Leipold wrote on Tue, 10 June 2014 07:20Hahaha, Yes it is a GMC with an Oldsmobile 455 engine.
I do not know the TZE off the top of my head, and I live in Greensboro NC.
It stays pretty warm in that fishbowl of a cockpit.
Thankfully, Mr. Wheeler helped me install a floor vent before I drove cross country and back in the middle of summer 2011.
Maybe lack of an A/C compressor helped my fuel economy.
So, back to the topic...
Does anyone have spare alternator mounting brackets?
I would prefer to move it to the driver side, so I can run a double pulley.
And if it is not raining tonight and I remember, I can take pics
It's hard to believe that A/C was optional. That was sort of the mentality back then. I think there are a few people here that have original non-AC coaches.

Michael Leipold wrote on Wed, 11 June 2014 07:36I agree that it is a GM alternator, but my concern is the mounting.
I would like to either move it to the driver side or replace the brackets with common Olds 455 brackets.
I believe the alternator twists when under load, and prematurely wears out the front bearing.
Those look like standard factory 455 brackets.

My neighbor's '73 26' Canyon Lands also did not come with factory dash AC. He told me that it would have been something like another $50 for factory air and he thought that running his Onan to power the roof air was all he needed. I believe the alternator was on the passenger side as well. He died a few years ago and his coach is with another proud GMC owner.
