If you are an email list subscriber, posting pictures to the forum does not apply to you

Here is how to imbed the picture from the photo site
[url=http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/data/6131/CockpitCot3.jpg][img]http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/data/6131/CockpitCot3.jpg[/img][/url]
Put the URL of the PICTURE twice within the "url" and "img" tags exactly as shown.

Forum users see only a picture without a url, and mail list subscribers see only a url.

You need the URL of the PICTURE, NOT the URL of the PAGE where the picture is normally displayed.

The URL of the PAGE of the example below is
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/interior-aspirations/p46281-batman-s-front-bedroom.html

The URL of the PICTURE of the example below is
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/data/6131/CockpitCot3.jpg

How you get the URL of the picture depends on what web browser you are using. In Internet Explorer, right mouse click on the picture and you get a menu. On the GMC photo site, if you try to select "Copy Shortcut", when you paste it you get "javascript:;" That's no good. So you have to click on "Properties" and then highlight the URL then hold down the "Ctrl" and "c" keys at the same time. "Ctrl" and "v" pastes the selected/copied text.

When done right it looks like this on the forum:
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/data/6131/CockpitCot3.jpg

I wonder how this might affect bandwidth? We were under an imposed max bandwidth, which apparently was part of the reason the forum went down recently. Don't know jf the limitation still exists since the forum upgrade.

There is no bandwidth effect. The pictures are actually hosted elsewhere and transferred directly from where they are stored. All that is stored or sent from the forum site is a pointer to the photo site.

So I'm still not seeing how to imbed the photo. Do we just put the GMC photo link into the message?

If you are an email list subscriber, posting pictures to the forum does not apply to you.

If you are using the forum, you need the URL of the PICTURE, not the URL of the page where the picture is normally displayed.

The URL of the PAGE of the example I used is

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/interior-aspirations/p46281-batman-s-front-bedroom.html

The URL of the PICTURE of the example I used is

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/data/6131/CockpitCot3.jpg

Now look at the third line of the first post in this thread. Put the URL of the PICTURE twice within the "url" and "img" tags exactly as shown.

If you need help figuring out how to get the URL of the PICTURE from the page, post back here.

Is there still no easier way to place a relevant picture within a post? The forum software has a built in file attachment, but has evidently been set at a maximum of 1 KB to essentially block direct uploads.

I have said this before, but not in this thread. The forum server does not have enough hard drive space or bandwidth to serve pictures and other media.

You don't have to imbed the photo if it is too much trouble, just paste the URL. It won't imbed the picture but anyone can click on it and it will open in a new tab.

Imbedding is for people that expend that kind of effort for fun.

Thank you, understood. I have played with the instructions and it is easy to place the page link, but I'm having difficulty identifying the picture path in my album to imbed. Thanks again.

I use photobucket.com

Costs nothing and doesn't eat up our bandwidth. Once it gets imported into photobucket, I just copy the "direct" and bracket it within and tags. If you copy one of my posts you might see this. There are other ways but that's JWID. Photobucket keeps adding more promotional junk so it takes a bit more maneuvering to get around the popups. They still have my images from many years ago and they say I've only used 9% of my free storage. Works for me.

Add edit: If you see a ? it's because it looks like an html thing. I meant to type what are known as image tags.

Hi Rod

Unfortunately, that's not a URL, it's a link to where the picture is on your own computer. You might be able to see it, but we can't.

I use a site called https://postimages.org/ I upload my photos there and then when you want to share them it gives you several choices, I pick "Hotlink for forums" and paste that URL here, it includes the proper brackets and coding to make it visible on the forum.

I would like to know where to get one of those beds shown in the picture. Also, Ken B, is the windshield clinic going to have the ceramic coated windshield replacements?
