In most coaches there is a combination fan/light over the cooktop. Mine had never worked. The fan switch was broken off and the cover was hanging from the light switch. So today I took it down to fix it.

The cover consists of a screen panel over the fan and a plastic panel over the light, mounted in an aluminum frame that fits in the bottom of the cabinet. It is held up by the threaded collars on the switches. The screen on mine was missing. The plastic was there and in good condition. I took the screen panel out of my parts coach, mounted it in the cover, replaced the broken switch, and went to mount the cover.

It would not fit. No matter how I tried, I could not get the cover in the cabinet opening and the switches through the holes at the same time. It was like the switches were a half inch off. I measured the hole in the cabinet. 21.5". I measured cover. 21.5", BUT the holes were at 10". WTF? The holes were not in the center. But it had to go on that way, since the plastic was in that side. Unless.......

Unless at some point someone had removed the plastic and installed it in the wrong side.

I removed the screen, removed the plastic, installed the screen where the plastic was, and the plastic on the other side. The cover installed with virtually no effort.

Gotta love those PO's.
