I found one of these Generac 4800 watt generators for sale used and had Miguel at MGM install it for me. Unfortunately it has a fuel delivery issue, which Miguel says is most likely the fuel solenoid not opening correctly, a very common problem apparently, and the part for this model is rather expensive and hard to find. His suggested remedy would be to disable the spring-back mechanism inside the solenoid by hitting it precisely, inside, with a hammer and nail, so the aperture would stay open. Well, i've tried many times, and this spring just won't quit! Anybody else have this issue before? Any suggestions appreciated, as always :)
Cheers

just an update to gregs fuel pin problem,

He came in yesterday and I fixed the pin open, now the PP50G runs just fine, the problem is, and this is with the new ONANs we install, you HAVE TO RUN THEN EVERY MONTH for 10 or 15 mins, they all have the same fuel cut off sol under the carb, but, if you do not run them monthly, the pin gums up and will not open, it is all in the manuals, it says you need to run them to prevent this from happening

Same same with the junk 3.6 multispeed obne. I don't think they like alcohol much. You also need to load the genset when you run it. I disconnect the shore power, fire the genset, and run the A/C for about half an hour the first weekend of every month.

Ditto for the Honda EV's. Run them once a month. They have the same Solenoid on the bottom of the carb.

Sounds like a manual fuel shut off should be installed ahead of the generator so it can be run out of fuel on shut down so this can't happen. An old fuel solenoid from the Onan would even suffice.
