188 hours on meter, sounds good running , power pulses slightly , some of that could be my meter.
The last 3 times it has been run, it ran for approx 25 to 45 minutes then stopped. All 3 could have been do to gas being that low.
Does a properly running 6k generator do something at the say 30 minute mark that should make it choke out? (i am not saying it is choking out, all i know is it stopped ?

Brian,
If it still has points and condenser, the condenser (capacitor) can do that and it drive you dugF trying to find it. (BTDT)
If it isn't a fuel issue, change out the cap. They are cheap and the change is easy.
If you haven't done the conversion to flywheel Pertronix, do that so you can enjoy the reliability.

Once these things are running, the 2 main reasons for stopping are low fuel or low oil pressure.

There would seem to be several of possibilities here. Although ignition would seem to be the most likely cause of this behavior, when my generator was exhibiting the same symptoms, it turned out to be the fuel pump. My generator has a lot more hours, close to 1700, but it ran fine. It started to quit after running for about two hours, then one hour, then 1/2 hour, then 15 minutes. Each time it would fire back up almost right away, but only run for a few seconds. After it cooled down, it would run again for a while, but then do the same thing, running for ever decreasing amounts of time each instance. I took the fuel pump off and disassembled it, cleaned it, reassembled it, and reinstalled it. Same thing. After discussing the problem with another RV friend, he said one of HIS friends had the same type of issue and it turned out to be the fuel pump. I replaced the pump with a Mr Gasket unit from Jim K, and haven't had a single issue with it since.

Try unhooking the wire to the choke and see if it eliminates the problem.
Also try by dis connecting the inside switch by the engine.
We are an Onan dealer and repair shop, and have found these to help.
Cannot explain why yet.

G'day,
Mark and Carl are both correct regarding this kind of Onan problem at least from where I stand. On our first tour with Double
Trouble the Onan performed well. I can't remember if it was the following year or the year after that it would run for an hour or so
then shut down. We were in Ohio so I stopped in to see Tom Hampton; he found it to be the coil.
I ran OK for a year or so then it started doing the same thing. It turned out to be the OEM fuel pump, however, the fuel pump did
not actually fail, I had disassembled it to check it and reassembled it incorrectly. Last year before we left for our summer tour I
replaced it with a new identical Facet pump and rebuilt the carb and the Onan ran fine again.
I bought a used Honda EV6010 and if it craps out again the Honda's going in!
