Sorry 'bout that!

Ken
I empathize.
My AOL account was recently spoofed -- as I posted here. Later AOL sent a note to say that 20% of their email users were spoofed. Not quite the same as hacked -- apparently the miscreants were able to hack AOL and backdoor the contact lists without getting into individual accounts.

Most folks have been or will go through this sometime in their lives. The important thing is to NEVER, NEVER EVER click on a blind link or a link from someone you know but the message doesn't sound like them writing. When in doubt, don't click but email the person who sent it to you to verify they sent it.
For the less internet savvy, a blind link might be something where the subject says something like "WOW, you need to watch this!" followed by a message body with nothing but a clickable URL. Sometimes there will be some words before the URL in the body but they're almost always written by a non-native English speaker and 'sound' off.

No sweat. On a given day, if I don't get a few messages containing absolute junk from hacked friend's mailboxes, I feel slighted. I can only assume some have heard from me about a guy who lost 700 pounds by eating pizza four times a day.
