While I am glad to have the forum back, I miss having the color change on the read messages.
I do not know if this a change in the forum or a missed set up in my browser.
I usually read the forum with FF 29.01 on Win7-64 Home pro.
Thanks
Matt

Matt, I have been fighting the same problem. It started when Eugene installed the new version of the forum. It is not a 100% failure. I have been playing with this trying to collect more failure data. It is interesting that it also fails under Chrome that I have on my android tablet and under the native Andriod browser in Android ver. 4.2. I have found that it will not fail if only one message in a thread is read. Then it will turn to blue and stay that way. What is really exasperating is when I turn 5 or 6 blue in one thread as read and then come back later and they are all marked as unread (red) again.
I tried marking all messages as read (located on the bottom of the page) and deleting all cookies. That did not help. All that did was screw up my automatic login. A couple of other people reported the same failure on the first day of the new version forum. Because of this failure I have read some postings 4 or 5 times because they show up as unread over and over again.
I'm at FF ver. 29.0.1 also.

I just tried it with IE under XP and it fails exactly the same way. Now what is the problem?
That is 4 different browsers (IE, Chrome, Firefox, and Android native) on two different machines (laptop and tablet) with two different operating systems (XP and Android).
The only thing in common is the forum software itself and it started when Eugene updated to a new forum version.

Yes.
Flat topic listing and tree message listing.
It is the tree message listing that is failing.
Items turn blue as we read them but after closing the topic if you come back later some are marked as read (blue color) and and some are not marked and changed back to red color. Reading them a second or third or fourth time will eventually change the failing ones to blue (read).
This makes a real mess.
You might as well not even sign in and play like some emailers do.
Just remain anonymous and not even sign in.

Eugene,
Go into your profile and set it for Flat topic listing / Tree message listing.
Then go look at the thread titled "[GMCnet] Lug nut / Wheel nut Torque" In my case there is one message somewhere in the middle in red and the bottom 4 are now in red. Look at all of the unread messages and they will turn blue. After that leave the topic and look at something else. Now go back to the topic listing and it will be red indicating that there are unread messages in that topic. When you click on 'go to the first unread message" you will find that some of the messages that you just previously read are now unread again.
If you want you can also sign on as me and try it that way without making any profile changes. I expect to be gone for the next few days. Feel fre to use my id. I can PM you my user id and password if you do not have it.

The Seamonkey browser program from Mozilla seems to handle it well in Win XP. Tracks what I have and haven't read perfectly. It's all about the cookies. Will work in Win 7 too, when I finally get that OS to agree with my hardware like XP does. Has been excellent browser and email program since Windows 95. Seamonkey has a very good email program, probably the best and most usable one out there, but nobody seems to know it.
