hello all,

I have a '76 and my air ride has a problem. From what I can tell, on the right side, the valve dumps air when it is too high OR too low. If you manually (from the dash) adjust the level, it will hold for weeks/months. And the left side works just fine. Is that Height Control Value problem? Is there just a bad seal on raise side of the valve that I can repair or just replace the thing?

thank you all in advance.

Todd

Can't help with the repair but Dave Lenzi near you rebuilds them and Applied sells new ones.

I don't know if all models are the same or not, but this is pretty inexpensive

Todd

before you spent any money:

I just spent 2 days chasing a leak that did about the same, I just could not find that leak in the compartment Air was just blowing around in up and down I took the whole unit apart and resealed all connection and added a new pressureswitch ( the one there was from a compressor) taking the opportunity to add a air takeout.
When I put it all back in there was still a leak. Then I found out that one of the airlines had a hole 2 days of searching for a leak and a 2 minuts repair
Some people might also remember that when i got Olga the system did not work and it to took several days to find out that the PO had switched 2 airlines

So what I mean to say is Spent some time to go through the whole system the chanche is you find something wrong somwhere that you can fix for no money and in the process you learn alot about your GMC

I think I have isolated the problem to the valve. I say this because when I disconnect the linage and manually actuate the valve up or down the coach goes down. When I select "raise" from the dash it does up and "lower" takes it down. Could it be anything other than the valve? what else should I check?

thanks agsain

I think he meant linkage instead of linage?

What year is your coach?
Should you have the later models with Electo Level, they will partly
controlled by the solenoid .

yes, I meant linkage. fat fingers and auto correct. Smile

It is a 1976 with the non-electro level system. I believe it was made in late '75.

Trace the lines for one side at a time.
Sometimes the solenoid valve by the compressor can leak and you'll not dtect it till you disassemble it.
Rust from the tank lands on the seal and will not seal.
