can anyone help this person
there are so many factors, it is hard to answer
- air systems
- measurements
- how to raise . jack gmc
-
i can barely keep up with gmc on the flat

Dear sir...
I have my on on a 1978 26' and a 1978 23'. It's quite a drive to view
either of them and my challenge of owning one is my driveway transition. I
can't for the life of me figure out the distance from the centre rear wheel
to the back of the rv..or the rear ground clearance on either model. Any
chance you can help me out on this one? My driveway slopes at 8
degrees.....and there's a drainage drop of about 1//4 inch as the driveway
transitions to the road. Ultimately...will either model scrape as I
approach the driveway?
Your thoughts on this would be very much appreciate...and also details on
the maximum clearance and also distance to the section that scrapes.

I have a similar (if not measured) situation. To get in or out, I need to raise the rear as high as possible, but it does fit into my driveway. Rob Mueller (26 footer) visited in Fall of 2012 and was also able to negotiate the rise. I suspect a 23 footer would fit even more easily due to reduced tail overhang.

thx for the responses guys...much appreciated. I really want to get the
26ft as it provides much better sleeping accommodation. I'll see one comes
up closer to home the try it out before buying.

thx so much! I think this answers my questions. Looks like the 26' might
work with wooden planks...but the 23' has about a 4 degree departure
headroom versus the angle of my driveway.

Remember that those measurements were made with the coach at its normal running attitude (somewhat tail down). Pressuring up the rear bags to raise the coach a couple of inches at the center of the rear suspension would probably kick the rear bumper up three inches, greatly increasing your clearance angle!

We once bought a house in 1984 in California which had a steep driveway with a drop at the end down to the street. We then discovered that we could not drive our 26' GMC up the drive because it dragged so much that, even with the airbags inflated totally, we could not move more that 20 feet up the drive.
I then tried backing up the drive and it worked fine. We did that for the next 9 years until we moved.
