After a "long" trip in the GMC this past weekend my back is begging for some new front seats but my wallet is begging me not to go overboard here. The trip was only 150 miles each way and my back is still sore as hell.
We have the original non moving Orange and Tan seats. I understand the Honda Odyssey middle row seats are a quick fix, correct? Any other options that don't require a whole lot of labor to swap? Anything to stay away from? Would like to keep it reasonably priced if possible. Need to save my cash for other things that are bound to go wrong.

Some muscle strengthening?! It really helps, doesn't cost any, and will
get rid of pain in the back. "A strong back has no pain" :-)

I guess I should also note that I am 6'5" and I think a lot of the back pain comes from slumping over to see out the middle of the windshield rather than the very top.
So anything I put in will have to involve changing the height of the pedestal as well. Am looking through the photo site for some ideas but if anyone has any, I'm all ears.

We have the Honda seats and we like them. I think they were $150 for the set. There instructions online that explain how to install them.
Cheers,

Trust me I have all that. Most of the pads I use make my arms go numb. I am used to making long drives without a problem but the GMC seats (and more likely the fact I am leaning over to see out the windshield) is what is doing me in here.

Some better pics would be awesome. If I sit up straight, I am looking out the top 2 inches of the windshield. I don’t think they have created a back exercise yet that will help that.
If I could just lean this seat back, I think I would be ok.

I have a set of Flexsteel seats I replaced with Honda Odessey seats. They are kind of a red/maroon solid color material and in great shape -- no rips, tears or much wear. I'd give them to you, if you could pick them up.
e-mail me and I can send pictures.

Dang. If only I lived closer to Indy than I do. Would cost me about $200 in gas RT to get them from you. Although that $200 is cheaper than some of the seats we've been looking at. You don'™t ever happen to be "passing through€"¯ Virginia, do you?

No, unfortunately, no plans to be close to Virginia.

I think that will be the best thing I can do in the interim.
Quote: | Consider having a couple inches removed from those seat bases. Not
going to matter what you put on them you're still going to be looking
out the top of the windshield.

Leg room is perfect. No issues there at all. It's the head room that is the issue. I think the first thing I will do is remove the bases and see if I can chop off a couple inches from them. I have a welding shop nearby that does odd jobs like this so I'll throw some business their way.
